Domain overview

What You'll Actually Master

Cloud and platform engineering is not one console or one certification. This program teaches you how the major parts of a modern cloud platform fit together and how to operate them responsibly.

01

Cloud Computing Foundations

The mental model behind every cloud platform you will touch.

  • Compute, storage, network
  • Regions and availability zones
  • Shared responsibility
  • Cost basics
02

Linux & Command Line

The operating environment every cloud workload actually runs on.

  • Shell workflows
  • Processes
  • Filesystem
  • Networking basics
  • Scripting
03

Networking & Security Fundamentals

How traffic, identity and access actually work in the cloud.

  • VPCs and subnets
  • DNS
  • Load balancing
  • IAM
  • Security groups and firewalls
04

Infrastructure as Code

Treating infrastructure as versioned, reviewable, repeatable code.

  • Declarative provisioning
  • State management
  • Modules
  • Environments
  • Drift
05

Containers & Orchestration

Packaging and running services the way modern platforms do.

  • Docker images
  • Container registries
  • Kubernetes objects
  • Scaling
  • Rolling updates
06

CI/CD & Automation

Moving code from commit to running system without manual steps.

  • Build pipelines
  • Automated testing gates
  • Deployment strategies
  • Rollbacks
  • Secrets handling
07

Observability & Reliability

Seeing what a running system is actually doing.

  • Logging
  • Metrics
  • Alerting
  • Dashboards
  • Incident basics
  • SLIs/SLOs
08

Cloud Security & Compliance

Keeping cloud systems safe by default, not by accident.

  • Least privilege
  • Secrets management
  • Vulnerability scanning
  • Encryption
  • Audit logging
09

Serverless & Managed Services

When to run less infrastructure yourself.

  • Functions
  • Managed databases
  • Event-driven design
  • Cost trade-offs
10

Cost & Capacity Management

Running a platform that stays affordable as it scales.

  • Right-sizing
  • Autoscaling
  • Cost visibility
  • Budgets and alerts
11

Site Reliability Practices

Operating a system responsibly once it is live.

  • On-call basics
  • Incident response
  • Postmortems
  • Runbooks
  • Disaster recovery
12

Platform Engineering

Building the internal platform other engineers build on top of.

  • Golden paths
  • Self-service infrastructure
  • Internal developer platforms
  • Governance

Cloud platform architecture

The platform you learn to build

Select a part of the system to see what you actually understand, what you build with it, and the project that proves it. You leave understanding the whole cloud platform — not only individual services.

  • The foundation every workload runs on.

    • Virtual machines
    • VPCs and subnets
    • Load balancing
    • DNS
    • Security groups

Build: A network-isolated compute environment sized for a real workload.

Projects you will build

Your portfolio is the proof

Each project is scoped like real work: a context, a problem, deliverables and an artifact you can show.

More about this program

Cloud & Platform Engineering at UNLOX

What is cloud and platform engineering?

Cloud and platform engineering is the practice of designing, provisioning, automating and operating the infrastructure that applications run on. It covers compute, networking, containers, delivery pipelines, observability and security.

The job is less about knowing every cloud service by name and more about being able to take a workload, design its architecture, provision it as code, automate its delivery, secure it, and keep it running reliably.

What will you learn in this cloud program?

The UNLOX Global Cloud & Platform Engineering program covers cloud computing foundations, Linux and networking, infrastructure as code, containers and orchestration, CI/CD and automation, observability and reliability, cloud security and compliance, serverless and managed services, cost and capacity management, site reliability practices and platform engineering.

Each area is taught through building. Learning is verified by what you can produce, reviewed by mentors, and documented as portfolio evidence.

Career directions after the program

Learners target roles such as cloud engineer, DevOps engineer, site reliability engineer, platform engineer and cloud security or infrastructure professional. Each role expects evidence: deployed platforms, security and reliability reports and the ability to defend technical decisions.

Every role you might target is backed by at least one cloud system you provisioned, automated and documented yourself.

Learning methodology

Learning is project-based. You define the architecture, provision infrastructure, automate delivery, containerize and orchestrate services, secure the environment, review, improve, observe, operate, document and publish. BLU AI support and human mentor review run alongside every stage.
